Newark Earthworks
The Newark Earthworks are ancient earthern enclosures, built by the Hopewell Native Americans between 0AD and 400AD. The surviving sections of the Newark Earthworks consist of three parts – the Great Circle Earthworks, the Wright Earthworks, and the Octagon Earthworks.
The Earthworks are set amongst some beautiful scenery and are an excellent place to take a walk, although you should take care to avoid walking on the earthworks themselves. We would particularly recommend taking the guided tour if you get the chance, and the museum is also worth a visit, although the opening hours are seasonal. The Great Circle Museum can be found at 455 Hebron Road.
