Make unforgettable new memories with the family by checking out the great winter activities you can drive to from Heath, OH. At Coughlin Ford of Heath, we understand that activities play a big role in a family vacation. To help you experience the best of Heath during the holidays, we’ve created the following list of winter events.

1. The Winter Wonders Walk at Dawes Arboretum

Take an exhilarating walk through a winter wonderland at Dawes Arboretum on 7770 Jacksontown Road. Follow the Parkwoods Trail at night and look up at the trees all lit up in beautiful colors. Then, enjoy live music, warm drinks, and delicious bites from food trucks.

You can also say hello to Santa Claus, who shows up every evening to greet everybody. Make sure the kids don’t miss out on the last night of the event, when Santa’s reindeer come to pick him up to get ready for Christmas.

2. Ice Skating at Lou & Gib Reese Ice Arena

Strap on your ice skates and have a fun time with the family at Lou & Gib Reese Ice Arena on 936 Sharon Valley Road. Whether it’s your first time ice skating or you consider yourself a seasoned pro, you’ll find ice skating activities for every skill level that will keep you entertained.

You can watch an exciting hockey match or practice your favorite figure skating techniques. Lou & Gib Reese Ice Arena also arrange birthday parties so that you can rent a whole party room for your special day.

3. Attend the Buckeye Lake State Park Winterfest

Join the locals in celebrating the biggest winter event at Ohio’s oldest state park: the Buckeye Lake State Park Winterfest! Dance to catchy live music, check out the specials at the restaurants and watch the fireworks at 2905 Leibs Island Road NE.

If you’re brave enough, ring in the new year by driving your Ford F-150 to Buckeye Lake and jumping into the water during the annual Polar Plunge!

4. Winter Hike on the Blackhand Gorge State Nature Reserve

Get in touch with nature on a winter hike through Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve’s main trail at 200 Gratiot Rd SE. The 4.3-mile trail runs along the Licking River, which created the preserve’s eponymous gorge.

Once used as a railway track, the repurposed trail offers hikers beautiful scenery of the 775-acre preserve. Witness impressive sandstone formations and frozen waterfalls along the way. The Blackhand Trail also allows leashed dogs to come along for the hike.
