Let’s face it: you can’t beat a good BBQ. One of America’s most famous contributions to gastronomy, BBQ is done in many different styles all over the country, and states are in constant rivalry over what makes the perfect one. Although Ohio may not be famous for its BBQ, many towns, such as Heath, OH, feature some of the best barbecue joints in the Northeast. With styles ranging from Texan to Tennessean, here are some of our favorites.

Ray Ray’s Hog Pit

Located at 1256 Columbus Road in the nearby town of Granville, Ray Ray’s Hog Pit offers the finest Texan BBQ in the area. With a tantalizing menu that includes spare ribs, hog roast sandwiches, and homemade hot links, this spot has diners coming back time and time again.

A BBQ joint fit for vegetarians? That’s right! At Ray Ray’s Hog Pit, the creative chefs also put together delicious vegetarian options, such as smoked cauliflower burnt ends, so everyone can find something to enjoy.

Lindsey’s Smokehouse Barbecue

Drive south to Buckeye Lake, and in a quaint building at 4553 Walnut Road; you’ll find this incredible BBQ joint. With family recipes that go back generations, you know you’re in for something special at Lindsey’s Smokehouse Barbecue. The menu covers all kinds of meats, including beef brisket, pork ribs, and pulled chicken, and there are loads of original sides to choose from, too, such as mac ‘n cheese and potato salad.

As Lindsey’s Smokehouse Barbecue is predominantly a drive-thru, there is only basic seating available, so make sure you visit here to pick up your food in your new Ford EcoSport. With its comfortable, stain-resistant ActiveX seats, you can park up somewhere nice and enjoy your delicious BBQ in comfort without damaging your upholstery.

City Barbecue

A rustic BBQ spot situated at 1195 West Church Street in nearby Newark, City Barbecue has made a name for itself with its delicious slow-cooked meats. These can be bought by the pound or in a sandwich. However, if you’re dining in a group, you can also opt for their incredible platters that are stacked full of a variety of meats and sides.

When it comes to barbecue, there aren’t many towns in the Northeastern US that match the diversity of Heath. From tender, slow-cooked ribs to juicy whole hogs, this town has it all, and residents are lucky to enjoy such a range of BBQ styles. If you love BBQ as much as us, drop by and visit us at Coughlin Ford of Heath, where we can discuss our favorite restaurants while you browse our showroom of impressive new and used cars.
