If you live in Heath, OH, you have no shortage of great nature trails nearby. In just a short drive, you can be in the middle of some astounding nature and at the start of some adventurous hiking trails. Whether you’re looking for an easy walk on which you can take your family or a more demanding trail for seasoned hikers, here are some of our favorite places you need to check out.

Dawes Arboretum Loop Trail

With a total length of 4.7 km, the Dawes Arboretum Loop Trail takes you through some of the most breathtaking scenery in the county. The trail is moderately challenging, so is best for seasoned hikers, and for this reason, you will find very few people along the loop, so this is an ideal place to get away from the crowd.

The area is home to loads of different bird species, so it is great for birdwatching along the way; however, this trail does charge for entry, so be advised to bring some cash with you.

Blackhand Gorge Trail

With many trails to choose from, Blackhand Gorge State Nature Preserve is a great spot for hikers. Spread across the 957-acre nature preserve are a total of 13 km of trails winding through the hills, but the most popular trail is the Blackhand Gorge Trail which stretches 4 km. With its paved road, this trail is used often by bikers and hikers alike, however, you can still find some peaceful spots during the off-peak hours.

Taft Reserve North Loop

If you’re looking for beautiful wildflowers and picturesque wooded walks, Taft Reserve is where you want to head to. There are 2 loops to choose from, but the 7.1 km north loop is the most popular among the hiking community. This loop takes you through meadows and forests, and there are many spots to sit back and relax in peace.

Taft Reserve North Loop is situated about a 15-minute drive outside of Heath, and towards the end, the road leaves much to be desired. However, if you turn up in a rugged car like the new Ford F-150 XLT then you should have no problems tackling the terrain and getting there.

With all of these great nature trails just a short journey away, you have so much choice for your weekend hiking trips. These are just a few of the great options you have in the nearby area, and there are loads more besides these too. Drop by and visit us at Coughlin Ford of Heath after you get back to tell us how it went, and while you’re here you can check out our showroom of impressive new and used cars.
