2022 Ford F-150
The Ford F-150 continues to be one of the most powerful and reliable pickup trucks on the market. A true workhorse, you can rely on the F-150 for just about any task. Now in its ninth generation, the F-150 continues to be a popular option, and with a wide range of powertrains, a stylish, thick aluminum body, and a myriad of trim levels to choose from, it's not hard to see why.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
This hard-working truck looks tough and durable, with a variety of distinctive body styles and bed lengths, depending on the chosen trim. The truck stands out with black bumpers, Ford's signature grille, halogen daytime running lights, and 17-inch silver steel wheels. Ford offers the F-150 in seven trims: the XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, and Raptor. The XLT trim adds chrome bumpers, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and a chrome grille. A total of eight color options for the XL and 11 options on all other trims make it easy to give your F-150 its own personality.
Engine (Power)
The F-150 is available with a wide range of engines, so you can choose just the right power you need to get the job done. These include a 3.3-liter V-6 producing 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 producing 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, and a 5-liter V-8 producing 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. You can also choose a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 400 horsepower and on the Raptor, 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. On the hybrid, the engine churns out 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
No matter which powertrain you choose, you have the option of rear or four-wheel drive. The F-150's handling is smooth and agreeable, and higher trims come with a variable-assist steering system that adds extra agility. Add the Class II Trailer Tow Package with Sway Control for a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.
Interior
Ford uses premium, high-quality materials in the F-150's interior, and a number of extra cubbies line the cabin for added convenience. Passenger space is bountiful, and the 10-speed automatic shift lever folds flat with the truck's center console to create a convenient, roomy mobile workspace. An 8-inch infotainment system is standard, but a larger 12-inch screen is also available. A Wi-Fi hotspot, integrated connectivity apps, a four-speaker sound system, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard.
Safety Features
If there's one thing the F-150 doesn't skimp on, it's safety features. Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a forward-collision warning system, side-impact beams, and a safety canopy curtain airbag are all standard. The XLT trim unlocks the Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite of safety technologies. These include Ford's Blind Spot Information System with trailer coverage, lane-keep assist, evasive steering assist, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. Higher trims also offer lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and more.
